The origin of vegan food

Becoming a vegan has become something modern. Many adopt this lifestyle for health, animals, and the environment. Vegetable products are more readily available. There is confusion and common misconceptions about the lifestyle of plants. In summary, plant organisms oppose the consumption or use of all animal-derived products. It includes clothes, food and everything else.

History

The vegetable plant began in 1944. Donald Watson devised the term and co-founded a community to encourage vegans to stop eating eggs. Later, the word “vegan” expanded its meaning to oppose all animal exploitation. Over the years, the movement continued to grow in popularity. In 2018, there were almost 2 million self-proclaimed vegans in the United States alone.

Classification

Vegan: Do not eat meat, eggs, shellfish, or dairy; Do not use derived animal products.

Environmental plant organisms: they become botanists to consume less natural resources and leave a minimal ecological impact. The breeding of animal factories is considered exploitation and cruelty towards animals. Animal husbandry is usually associated with pollution, soil erosion, energy consumption, and even climate change.

Vegan Food: Also called strict vegans. They only eat vegan foods.

Ethical vegan: for these followers, vegan is more than a diet; it is a lifestyle.

Also, ethical vegans do not use products tested on animals. By adopting a lifestyle, people tend to donate all their animal-derived properties to charities.

All plant foods are vegan. Conventional protein alternatives include tofu and wheat gluten. Cow’s milk is replaced with almond milk and soy. When baking, ingredients such as mashed potatoes, apple sauce, or soft tofu can be used instead of eggs. Vegetable cheese is often made from soy, nuts, and tapioca.

Vegan health problems

A balanced vegan diet can be healthy enough for all stages of life, from children to pregnant women and the elderly. It is enough to keep a small number of athletes leading the iron triathlon and intestinal obstruction. Studies have shown that people who consume plant foods have less cholesterol, which is expected because cholesterol is present in animal products. Also, they have low mortality rates, especially for cardiovascular disease. This diet tends to be high in fiber and some vitamins and minerals, while small in vitamin B12, fat, vitamin D, zinc, and calcium. Vegans should take steps to replenish the nutrients that are found in meat and dairy products.

Adopting a vegan lifestyle requires knowledge, motivation, and dedication. Some research is needed to know all the products derived from animals in our lives. Whether you decide to change for health, animal, or environmental reasons, be sure to make small changes over some time. To avoid malnutrition, make sure your diet is varied and balanced. Keep in mind that a vegan lifestyle can be enriching and healthy if adequately planned.
